New England Central Railroad - overnight in Willimantic

We have received final OK from the New England Central Railroad for an excursion on the southern half of there line in October. 

We do have some restrictions.  First we will not have a port-a-John.  The second is that call cars will be required to maintain 30 mph.   This is required because of the Amtrak schedule that we have to work around.   If you can not maintain 30 MPH, you will be warned, towed or asked to be setoff at the next highway crossing.   Above Palmer, there will be a no breakdown rule in effect.

The schedule will be as follows:

Saturday, October 13th

7 AM - Seton on in Belchertown (Charlene Siding)

8 AM Move out                                                 MP 74.8

11:30 AM Arrive Brattleboro    & Lunch            MP 120

12:30 PM  Amtrak departs

 2:31 PM  We depart Brattleboro

 3:30 PM Amtrak depart Palmer

                      3 hrs for us to do 45 -  very doable

                      NO STOPS,  NO BRAKEDOWN RUN IN EFFECT

  3:35 PM Depart Palmer                                       MP 65

  4:20 PM Stafford Spring – ICE CREAM STOP  MP 49

  5:45 PM  Arrive Willimantic                                 MP 29

     Total mileage is approximately 142 miles

     We will store our cars at the railroad museum in Willimantic and be bused to a local hotel

Sunday, October 14th

          7:00 AM Willimantic – BUS PICKUP & Drivers service cars

          8:00 AM Willimantic – Safety Meeting

          8:15 AM Willimantic – Depart                                         MP 29

        10:00 AM – New London – Turn Cars & Moveout                MP 1

        11:15 AM – Lunch – Leaping Falls                                    MP 15 ????

        12:00 PM Depart Leaping Falls                                         MP 15 ????

          2:00 PM Stafford Spring – ICE CREAM STOP                  MP 49

          3.15 PM Arrive Palmer                                                   MP 65

          3:30 PM Palmer – NB Amtrak thru                                  MP 65

          3:35 PM Palmer – Motorcars depart

          4:15 PM Belchertown – SETOFF                                    MP 75

                     Total mileage is approximately 105 miles

All NARCOA rules will be in effect.   No hy-rails or A-cars allowed.   Safety vests required by all passengers and operators.  Gas will be available Saturday night in Willimantic.    BECAUSE  OF THE LENGTH OF THIS RUN, NO MENTORING WILL BE ALLOWED.   NO EXPERIMENTAL OR HOMEBUILT CARS ALLOWED

Reservations will be accepted and must be paid in full by 9/30/07.  No refunds after 9/30/07..

Meet fee of $325.00 covers the excursion, bus transportation and overnight accommodations for two persons only.
